Long-Needed Updates!

Hello everyone!

It's been quite some time without word.

First, I want to thank everyone for the continued support with The Darkest Trilogy.  I can't tell you all how amazing it is to know that my words have touched so many of you!

Second, I want to update everyone on my radio silence. My daughter is about to turn one in just under a week!  Adjusting to having both a newborn and a preschooler (technically a kindergartner!) has been trying.  I haven't been back to my day job since she was born, but it's still been overwhelming!  I don't know how some women manage to make it look so easy, but I've finally been finding a way to balance it all.

Which brings me to my third point.  I've been writing again!

Well, editing, actually.  I've been working on something else I began years ago.  It's still in the draft stages, but I'm approaching the final, and I hope to have it out soon.  This one is a little different from The Darkest Trilogy, though it does follow the story of a teenage girl thrust into a new life.

That's all I've got for now!  I can't wait to share more with everyone, and hope to soon!

Thanks again for all of the support.  I really, truly appreciate it!

Sneak peek!

Okay, everyone, here it is!  The sneak peek of The Darkest Dawn!

Everyone was holding their breath, waiting for this man to speak, hoping he would have the answer—but it seemed as if he couldn’t find the words.
So I blinked, swallowing though my mouth was dry, my eyes darting downward for a moment.  My hands were still warm with my own blood, my shirt clinging to my skin where, just moments ago, I’d been stabbed by my own mother.
Only now, there was no wound.  There was nothing—not even a scar.  Through the hole in my shirt, one could see the pale flesh of my chest.
I looked back up at the pale man, the man who was not a man at all.  The man that I loved.  The vampire that I needed.
“What am I, Darren?” I questioned again, waiting for his response.  Waiting to see what was next.
Finally, he seemed to find his voice—however faint, however pained.
“I don’t know.”  He barely whispered.
A rush of air whipped through me, knocking the breath right out of me.  The room swayed, my world crumbling down around me.  My eyes watered as I looked away, no longer able to take the pain in Darren’s eyes.
I could feel their eyes burning into me as I stared down at my blood-covered hands.  Zoe, my best friend—caught between both relief and devastation that I was alive.  Darren, my own self-declared destiny, angry and despondent, knowing this was not the fate he had wanted for me.
And then there was Jared, the one responsible for whatever monstrosity I had become.  I could feel the intensity of his silvery blue eyes staring right through me, guilt-ridden but relieved.
A voice sounded in my mind, faint—hardly even noticeable.  I couldn’t lose her—I couldn’t let her die
I looked up, my eyes landing on his face.  I would recognize that voice anywhere.
“I can hear you,” I whispered fervently, another wave of despair passing through me.  “I heard your thoughts.”  Jared’s expression didn’t change, and I remained frozen in place.
This was a characteristic of the undead—of the vampires I was surrounded by.
But I could still feel my heart, beating steadily within my chest.
What had I become?
“We’re going to take care of this, Lucinda.”  It was Darren now, keeping his distance, though the look in his eye told me he wanted to comfort me.  I was suddenly aware of various other heartbeats, thudding quietly in the back of my mind.
“How?” I asked, unable to imagine any solution.  Who would know what I was?  Who would understand what had happened?
Demetrius—the one responsible for all of this, the one who had made me—was gone.  And my mother’s sincerest desire for me was that I join him.
Who could explain what I was?
Suddenly, I concentrated on the faintest of all of the heartbeats.  It was as if I could sense there was danger—he was weaker than all the rest.
“Brayden,” I said, and for the first time, the others in the room looked away, off to the side of the room.  There, a young man with sandy brown hair lay.  His breathing was labored, his coloring off.  Darren remained quiet for a long moment before glancing back in my direction.
“Zoe, Jared, you two take him to the hospital.”
“I’m not leaving her,” Jared’s tone was almost casual, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.  But there was an unmistakable strength to his tone.  He was a force to be reckoned with, and he was not afraid of conflict.
“Yes, you are.”  Darren’s eyes suddenly darkened.  “I think you’ve done enough here.”
“Well, at least she’s breathing, isn’t she?”  Jared’s voice was as cold as ice and I glanced in his direction.  In my mind, I felt what seemed to be wall forming between the two of us.  “That’s better than whatever you were going to leave her to.”  I shifted my gaze to my reddened hands.
“Is it?”  Darren questioned, and I realized for the first time that they were talking about my life.  And I was suddenly taken back to the argument that had taken place only moments ago.  I tried not to let the knowledge that Darren had been willing to let me die bother me.  I tried to be grateful that Jared had taken matters into his own hands and brought me back…in spite of whatever consequences may lie ahead.
Because, in death, I had a destiny.  A destiny I knew nothing about, save for one thing:  Darkness.  The darkest creatures I could imagine had created me, and I was certain it wasn’t to bring about their own destruction.

I know it's been a long wait, and I can't thank everyone enough for bearing with me!  But it's almost over--I'm fully expecting the book to be out in time for a little Halloween reading!

Updates and apologies!

Hello everyone!  It's been some time since I've checked in, and I offer many apologies.

It has been a hectic few months.  From personal issues to technical difficulties--and finally to a bad bout of writer's block--I haven't been in touch much.

So, with my new laptop, and my determination to battle through some writing demons, I'm back.

First and foremost, I have a new book on the horizon.  One Last Thing is a second-chance romance about a woman who, after walking away from the man she loved and the life she knew, returns to find that everything is different.

Secondly, an update on The Darkest Trilogy.  I'm so incredibly thrilled every time someone asks me about the final installment--to know that I have touched to many readers!  I'm in the beginning stages of the final draft process now.  It's going to take me a bit to immerse myself back into that world, but I promise to you that it will happen.  I absolutely love the story of Lucy, Darren, Jared, and Zoe, and I cannot wait for you all to experience the rest of it!

Finally, I just want to thank everyone for their ongoing support.  None of this would happen without you.

New novel, + The Darkest Trilogy Update!

Hey everyone!

First off, I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to write to me about how much they're enjoying my books.  I've been reflecting back to when I first began writing--I never intended to share my work.  I wrote for my own personal enjoyment, never expecting others to experience the same from the stories I created.  It's incredibly inspiring, though, to know that they do.

The response to The Darkest Deception has been overwhelmingly positive!  I'm asked often when the final installment will be ready--and I'm hoping for a release by the end of this year!  I will most certainly keep everyone updated as I make progress, though.  Also, I'm hoping to post a little sneak peek soon here.  :)

Currently, I'm editing a new novel--this one a romance.  It should be set to go within the next month or so!  Then, depending on where my muse takes me, I've got another couple of romances in the works, right along with the final novel of The Darkest trilogy.

I'm never short on ideas, only the time to execute them.

Thanks, all, for the continued support!

The Darkest Deception!

We've been hard at work putting the finishing touches on The Darkest Deception--which will soon be available!

Here's a little something to hold you over until then.

Still mourning the loss of her previous life, Lucinda Malone has immersed herself in a new one—a new city, a new job, a new friend in caster Zoe Henderson.  But the darkness is still there, eating her alive.

Until one night, when she crosses paths with the one thing she’s supposed to be avoiding.  Jared is a vampire—and though she knows that being near him puts everything she has promised at risk, she can’t help herself.  Or maybe she doesn’t want to.

Before long, Lucy comes face to face with the very past she’s been running away from—and she quickly discovers that her past hasn’t gone anywhere.  In fact, it has been chasing after her all along, leading her to a destiny she could never have expected.

I can't wait to share where Lucy goes next with everyone.  Stay tuned!

Updates!

Hey everyone!  It's been a busy couple of months...

My two year old has been demanding an awful lot of my time, but I've been sacrificing as much sleep as possible!  I absolutely adore him, but, my goodness, can he be a handful!  He's lucky he's so stinking cute.  :)

In writing-related news, I'm smack-dab in the middle of a new romance novel.  I'm really excited about it.  It's a little different than anything I've done before, but it's been really fun for me to write so far!  I'm hoping things settle down a little bit here so I can spend a little extra time on it.

As soon as I finish that, I'm moving on to the second book of the Darkest series.  I can't wait to get to it!  Bits and pieces just keep nipping at me, demanding my attention.  All in due time!

Also, I've been working on converting Can't Let Go, Single, Available, and Completely Attached, and The Darkest Dream to paperback!  Everything should be available soon!

I just wanted to take a second to thank all of my new fans and followers.  You have no idea how much it means to me!

Much appreciation to everyone.  Thank you so much for the support and encouragement!  :)

New book..!

Here's a sneak peek at my latest book cover!

The Darkest Dream is the first book of The Darkest Trilogy.

In one dark and fateful night, everything about seventeen year old Lucinda Malone’s life changes.  Having already lost both of her parents, Lucy loses the one remaining person she can rely on—and, worst of all, she loses her to a darkness she never knew existed, but to which she had always felt drawn.
The moment Lucy discovers that there’s another world existing within her own—that vampires and casters aren’t just mythical beings—she feels nothing.  Nothing but a quiet acceptance.  For as long as she can remember, she’s dreamed of the darkness.  She’s felt its pull, calling out to her—but it isn’t until she meets Darren O’Connor—the vampire who saves her life—that it all begins to make sense.

 Available soon on Amazon!

New book is AVAILABLE!

My latest novel, Single, Available, and Completely Attached, is now available on Amazon!

It's been getting some really great reviews so far, and I really hope that everyone continues to enjoy it.  Single, Available, and Completely Attached was just so much fun to write, and it seems like that's really showing through.

Meanwhile, I'm starting on a new romance while finishing up some details on my YA venture.  Looking forward to trying out some new waters!

As always, thanks for the support everyone!

Single, Available, and Completely Attached

My latest novel, Single, Available, and Completely Attached, is just around the corner.  Here's a quick little synopsis!

Good girl Anna Maloy has always been drawn to the wrong kind of guy—and if anybody fit that definition, it was Drew Whitman: her boyfriend’s best friend.

So when Anna breaks things off with her boyfriend of seven years, her newly minted ex does the logical thing:  He asks Drew to keep an eye on her.

Drew Whitman has never understood the hype about monogamy.  He’s never even been tempted.  Well, maybe, just that once—but as a loyal best friend, he’s chosen to forget all about that past and enjoy a life of self-indulgence and instant gratification.

Until he’s practically forced into her life, that is.  He does his best to ignore—well, everything about Anna Maloy, as he’s done the last seven years.  But the more time he spends with her, the harder it gets—especially when she’s the one crossing the line.

Can't wait to share it with everyone!  This book was a lot of fun to write, so I'm hoping everyone has even more fun reading it.  :o)

Updates..!

Hey everyone.  It's been awhile since I've posted, but I've been busy at work finishing up my latest work-in-progress!  I've just got a few technical details to attend to and it'll be set to go--hoping for a July release!

Meanwhile, I'm taking a little departure from my normal genre and trying my hand at a YA/NA vampire fantasy series.  It started out as a short story about...oh, twelve or thirteen years ago, and it's been itching at me ever since.

Anyway, just wanted to send out some appreciation to all those who have taken the time to read my novels.  It's a dream come true to be able to do something that not only I enjoy doing, but others enjoy reading, too.

I hope to keep it up!

Can't Let Go FREE!

Can't Let Go is FREE on Amazon Kindle today, April 28th and tomorrow April 29th!

If you haven't already picked it up, now is the time.  Don't forget to leave a review, too!

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

There are few things I enjoy more than the feeling of writing without thought.

When the words come so naturally, without effort; when the characters are so much a part of me that I don't have to stop to consider how they would respond; when their emotions are so real, I feel them, too.

These are the moments that I lose myself in, and hours pass...

And then I realize how late it is, and I have to hope that tomorrow, the pattern repeats itself.
